glitch!
beautiful errors · a game show about thinking
What glitch keeps about you
- The name you type to join a game. If your producer uses a Lineup, it is your contestant ID and the name on that Lineup instead.
- Your answers, how long each one took, and whether you said you were sure.
- Anything you write in the game: a reason, a question for your producer, a word for the word cloud.
- A random tag your browser keeps, so you can get back into the game if the page closes.
glitch does not ask for your email, your phone number, or where you are, and it does not show ads.
Who sees it
Your producer, the person running the game, sees your name and every answer you give. The other contestants may see names on the projector and the leaderboard; a name you typed shows only after your producer lets it through. The person who runs glitch for your school can see it too, to keep the site working.
The voice host
The voice host may say your first name out loud in the room. The recording of your name is deleted 24 hours after it is made.
How long it is kept
Your name, your answers and everything you wrote in a game are deleted on their own at the end of the school year, in the June 30 cleanup after that game. Your producer can delete them sooner. What stays afterwards has no names in it: counts like "12 of 30 got question 4 right".
If you sign in with your student ID, glitch keeps how you have done across games (no names, no answers) while you are on your school’s student list. When the school takes you off it, that goes too.
A backup copy of glitch is kept off the site for at most 30 days, so anything deleted is gone from every copy within 30 days.
Asking for it to be deleted
Ask your producer. They can delete a game's names and answers right away. If you would rather not ask them, ask the person who runs glitch at your school, who can take you off the student list and everything glitch keeps about you with it.
